The longest surviving marriage in the UK has been attributed to bingo and kisses before bedtime as well as good plain “English Food”. Anita and Frank Milford who recently celebrated their Oak Wedding Anniversary, The Oak anniversary represents 80 years of wedlock! The devoted couple, Frank is 100 and Anita is 99 years old, celebrated this milestone with friends and family in Plymouth, Devon. They have two children a daughter and son, aged 78 and 73 respectively, five Grandchildren and seven Great-grandchildren.

When the couple was asked what the secret to the success of both their long and happy marriage was, they replied a “little kiss before bed, trips to the bingo and good plain English food”. Anita also said that couples don’t last very long today because of a lack of respect for one another and they also don’t make enough time for romance. Frank said that young couples today want everything too fast, they had to struggle in the beginning of their marriage and a bomb even fell on their house in the war years.

I suppose that it might be too late to introduce this lovely couple to online bingo, but one never knows? Problem it that it is such a fun game, if they only had one computer, they might fight over it, and we really don’t want online bingo to be responsible for a divorce suit, do we? Particularly after a marriage lasting this long! The longest lasting marriage according to the Guinness Book of Records, was between cousins in India,Sir Temulji Bhicaji Narima and Lady Narima, were married in 1853 and were together for 86 years until 1940.
