Another Historical Bingo Landmark Falls Prey To Property Developers

Mecca Bingo Hall in Kilburn is one of the latest historical edifices that residents are worried will turn into a money spinner for property developers. Their concerns are that the historic – 1937, Grade II building, which was originally the Gaumont State Cinema but turned into a Bingo hall in 1982, and has been running at a loss for years (probably due to smoking ban I recon!), is on the property market for sale.

The residents of Kilburn are very concerned that unsympathetic property developers, who have been showing an interest in the historic building, will purchase the building, allow it to become run down and then destroy the building in order to use the land that it stands on to build flats. I am horrified is this really the modus operandi of unscrupulous property developers, and if so, why are they allowed to get away with behaving in such a manner? Shame on them!

But it seems that residents are not taking any chances, they are already up-in-arms about this possibility and have launched a campaign to try to save the building. If you feel the same way as I and the residents of Kilburn feel, you too, can show your support. Let’s not let another beautiful old building, filled with dreams and memories fall before the demolishing ball.
