Bingo and Unwanted Handbags!

The staff at the Stroud and Swindon Building society are in the process of organising a charity bingo event in aid of Bath Cancer Research and some of the Cancer Research shops in Westgate Street and Northumberland Place are asking anyone if they have unwanted Handbags to drop them into their shops, celebrity handbags are also set to be auctioned off on the popular online auction site EBay in this great charity initiative!

Once again this is a great example of where bingo meets charity and helps to be the backbone of a charity event to try and raise funds for a very worthwhile charity indeed. Dianne Long, who the charity’s head of corporate supporter development, said: “Generating new stock for our shops is really important – your local Cancer Research UK shop relies almost entirely on good quality donations. Every item donated during this handbag amnesty will help the charity’s life-saving work.”

The charity bingo night is being held on Wednesday, October 1 at 7pm at St Margaret’s Hall in Bradford on Avon and this is very apt as October is nationally (Breast Cancer Awareness) month. Evelyn Lauder introduced Breast Cancer Awareness Month back in 1993 across the world. Since then October has been awash with pink ribbons, now a global symbol for breast cancer awareness.

Breast cancer care takes the opportunity of using (Breast Cancer Awareness) month to highlight this disease and the ways in which their charity helps those who are affected by it and their families. When you are out and about shopping you often come across many pink products for sale to help raise money for this charity and the pink ribbon is a true symbol of breast cancer care.

As we know the game of bingo has long been associated with raising money for charity and both Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo are on huge charity drives at the moment. If you have a few spare handbags that you don’t use anymore, then why not drop them into your local Marie Breast Cancer shop so you can do your bit in helping them on this handbag charity drive.
