A survey undertaken by the UK Bingo Association has released results that indicate a steady decline in the amount of people playing land based bingo games. This comes in the wake of tax increases and the smoking ban on land based bingo halls.

More and more bingo players it seems are taking advantage of the opportunity to play online bingo and this is causing a dip in the market for land based Bingo clubs.

The survey was conducted to measure the social impact that the closure of land based clubs was having on communities. The report that came out of the survey “The Henley Centre Headlight Vision into the Social Aspects of Bingo Club Closures.” Reports that it estimates at approximately 3.8 million adults play bingo in the United Kingdom, and that they see bingo as playing a very important role in social interaction within the UK.

The survey found that people were left with a feeling of isolation when their local bingo club was closed down, and often people just did not even leave their homes any longer once this had happened. It was also revealed that people, who play bingo, probably spend more time with their families than people who don’t play or who are involved in other types of social activity.
