Bingo for Breakthrough Breast Cancer
The bingo association have been supporting breakthrough breast cancer since 2002 and this year they are pulling out all the stops to try and bring as much awareness as they possibly can for the plight of this great charity. Former Eastenders star Michelle Collins is the face of bingo for breakthrough breast cancer this year and she is urging bingo players to get behind their bingo clubs, so they can try and breakthrough the £3 million pound barrier mark this year.
Every single year the bingo industry supports breakthrough for breast cancer through their campaign bingo for breakthrough and they have been awarded “The Big Tick” which is a scheme run by businesses in the community and it is one that acknowledges companies “social responsibility” for four consecutive years on the trot.
Michelle Collins said, “I’m delighted to be supporting Bingo for Breakthrough 2008. With your support I’m sure it will be a great success!” The Bingo Association are proud to have Michelle onboard their campaign this year and high profiles celebs can really help to get campaigns like this out there in the public eye, after all it is the public that they need to reach, not only to help raise funds, but to promote awareness for breast cancer as it still continues to affect millions of women, men and their families each year.
The partnership between breakthrough breast cancer and bingo has been astounding and bingo for breakthrough has already raised over £2.75 million pounds for this very worthwhile charity indeed. This has only been made possible thanks to the support of staff and members at bingo clubs throughout the country and this year is set to be even bigger than last year and to lend your support all you need to do is get down to your local participating bingo hall between 19th and 25th October as this will be “bingo for breakthrough” week and you will find all sorts of fun and frolics going on at bingo hall near you from fancy dress fundraisers to free games of bingo, where you could make a donation for this cause and still be in with the chance of winning some cash yourself.
Land Based bingo halls still report that 73% of their player base are women bingo players and as breast cancer statistically affects more women than men, they are a key target audience to raise awareness of breast cancer to and we are talking staff and players alike.
