Bingo Helps St. Catherine’s Hospice
A Fundraising charity bingo event was recently held at the Mount Hotel in Bridge Terrace, Scarborough, this event was solely held to raise awareness and funds for the St. Catherine’s Hospice. Nearly fifty local businesses attended and helped support this worthy cause and it was lauded as a great success.
Lee Barker, the Chief Executive of the hospice said that they have never held a bingo themed event before but when they do host fundraising lunches, they generally try to work a theme into it for the purposes of networking. This is the fifth luncheon hosted by St. Catherine’s and it appears that everyone loved the bingo and to all intents and purposes had a very good time.
The business people who attended had to swap tables between courses and filled out bingo cards from numbers that were stuck onto each person.
The St. Catherine’s hospice caters to adult cancer patients and people who are suffering from other life threatening illnesses, the hospice services families from the Scarborough, Whitby and Rydale areas. It is good to know that bingo can be used to support worthy causes such as this. After all bingo has been responsible for raising funds for children with disabilities, breast cancer, the Red Cross and a whole host of different charitable causes.
