Gala Coral Bingo, Social Responsibility

The Gala Bingo (Coral Group) is well integrated into the UK bingo community; they also support social responsibility projects and have a variety of relationships with national charity organizations. Their staff members are involved in employer – supported volunteering with Business in the Community `Cares’ partnerships, and the `right to read’ scheme. The right to read scheme has Gala bingo employees spending time with school children, helping them to learn to read.

Gala bingo staff have spent over 3 000 hours in the past two years volunteering in the various social responsibility projects they support, and have contributed a great deal towards mentoring schemes. Two of their senior managers are on the `Partners in Leadership Programme’, this is a scheme to mentor business managers and head teachers.

There is also a school `Breakfast Club’ in Nottingham that is sponsored by Gala bingo, where they make a donation of ₤3 000 in support of the school for an academic year. The efforts of Gala bingo in the community do not go unrewarded and they have been consistently recommended for awards for their ongoing contributions to the wellbeing of the communities that they live and work in. It is also interesting to note that in 2006 Gala bingo raised more than ₤220 000 for Comic Relief.
