Harrah’s Set to Bid on Gala Bingo

Not even three months after the giant US gambling concern Harrah’s made a bid on what they thought was a failing Mecca Bingo in the UK (Rank Group), they are now trying to get a foot in the door at Gala Bingo through the parent company Coral group who operates within one of the largest bingo, bookmaking and casino markets in the UK.

It is not enough that their bid to Mecca Bingo was unsuccessful and in my estimation Mecca Bingo held them off quite simply because they did not want to be considered as part of a company that is US based, particularly because of the situation with UIGEA. I wonder what makes them think that Gala bingo would hold any interest in having them as partners?

Just as an aside Harrah’s have opened Scotland’s 6th and largest Casino recently, the Alea Casino that stands alongside the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow. The casino caters for mainly working class people so no one has to dress up to go. I personally have no intention of visiting the casino, not even if they offer bingo, as I have no desire to support the revenue of a company that is based in a country with laws that prevents free trade amongst UK online bingo operators.
