Mecca Bingo Win Turns Into Family Dispute

It is very strange, often people will say that money makes people change, and you know that somewhere along the line you have heard of families squabbling over money willed to them, but this story is a little different, a family is squabbling over a £1m bingo win.

I don’t know if you remember, we wrote a little news article last week about the pensioner who won the £1 million Mecca Bingo Jackpot, exactly three weeks after the first £1 million had been won at the same Forge Mecca Bingo hall in Glasgow. The story read at the time that the winner wanted to remain anonymous.

Well apparently the bingo prize was won by Jean McCullagh from Uddington, Lanarkshire. The sixty-nine year old pensioner is now involved in a dispute with her sister and two of her sisters-in-law after they claimed that there was an agreement in place for them to share the prize, and split the money. Both of her sisters-in-law, who were playing the winning bingo game with her, have had to hire lawyers and an interim interdict was issued by the Edinburgh Court of Session to block the payout from Mecca Bingo.

Lord Brodie, who issued the interdict during a late-night court hearing, has frozen the bank account of Ms McCullogh and also ordered Mecca Bingo to withhold any payment to her until they have heard from the courts in this matter.
