Negotiations between UK Bingo companies and Government regarding double taxation!

Well it is with great shock and surprise that I read that Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has announced his willingness to enter into talks with UK Bingo companies regarding what we all see quite clearly as being double taxation, how very kind of him indeed.

VAT is already charged when bingo players purchase their games and if that isn’t enough, the money that is paid out to bingo winners in the form of prizes is also taxed. It seems to me that the Government is in a win win situation when it comes to taxation on bingo, along with most other sin taxes and the man in the street, as per usual is the chump that has to bear the cost for it all.

What with tax and double tax being charged on just about every moment of fun and games that we are entitled to, and most that we aren’t, I certainly am of the opinion that it doesn’t matter how many times Prime Minister Gordon Brown requests the Chancellor of the Exchequer to look into the matter of double taxation on bingo, the numbers will not add up for him the way they do presently and the chances of this situation ever changing are about as likely as a pork chop being served in a synagogue.

The governments attitude of intervening in our lives to protect ourselves from ourselves quite frankly is beginning to rankle with me, I don’t know how the rest of the British public feels but I am beginning to feel like a school girl who has had her bottom smacked without knowing what the smacking was for.
