Police Hunt Heaton Bingo Attacker
Police are still on the hunt for a man who attacked a passerby outside the Heaton Bingo Hall in Heaton road, Newcastle, around 3am on 11th October. Despite investigating this incident for the past couple of weeks Police are still none the wiser as to who the attacker is even though they have CCTV pictures of the man that they are looking to interview in relation to this incident, so they have renewed calls for the public’s help to try and catch the man who left his victim needing hospital treatment.
The unsuspecting victim that wanted to remain anonymous said, “I have been off work sick for the last two weeks and am returning to hospital in a few days for an operation to repair my fractured eye socket. I am suffering from double vision and am in pain when I look up. It could well be that I have to have hospital treatment for another month. I sincerely hope that the person who assaulted me is caught by the police as I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else.”
According to reports this was a completely unprovoked attack that took place outside the Heaton Bingo Club that was closed at the time. The victim had not been playing bingo at the bingo club and he had no connection whatsoever to this bingo venue.
DC Dave Renton of Newcastle CID, said: “The victim suffered a serious facial injury for which he had to have hospital treatment. I’d urge the people in the images to come forward and I’d encourage anyone who might know them to contact us, in confidence if necessary, as soon as possible.”
The attacker is thought to be in his mid twenties and around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins, he wore a sleeveless hooded top. A very distinctive tribal tattoo could also clearly be seen on the man’s upper and lower right arm. A woman of about the same age was also captured on CCTV walking next this man shortly before the attack took place. Anyone with information relating to this incident are urged to contact the Police.
