Bingo Club Beats Smoking Ban

Many bingo clubs have found that the smoking ban has cause a drop in occupancies, leaving them bereft of much needed revenue to continue operating. They have been closing down all over the country and many have said that the smoking ban was part of the reason for the closures. This is not the case for the Mecca Bingo club in Regent Road, Great Yarmouth! People are still coming to the club, despite the smoking ban and it has made very little difference to the revenues of the bingo club.
The manager of the club said that many of the club members come to have a chat and catch up with their friend, they don’t only come there to play cash bingo. They pride themselves of being the heart of the local community and as such wanted to give something back to that community. They regularly hold promotions and on the 4th July they even had an American Independence Day celebration. The staff all wore “Uncle Sam” gear however they bingo calling was strictly English.
While many bingo clubs may bemoan the fact that the smoking ban has been the cause of their downfall, this club has found innovative ways to keep the membership strong. They feel that they too are part of the community and as such, no one stays away from the bingo club because of the smoking ban.
I don’t know why so many bingo clubs are apathetic and blame the smoking ban for their downcast fate? I suppose that it is easier for them to have something to blame than to actually take responsibility for their own actions. People who really object to the smoking ban, could all just stay home and play online bingo, but if their local bingo club puts on something special for them, they are going to be sure to go and join in.
