Bingo Club Smoking Ban Affects Other Businesses, Does it Affect You?
A new group set up in Leeds “Freedom to Choose” is hot on the heels of the smoking ban. This ban has affected UK Bingo Clubs, being in part responsible for the closure of quite a few clubs since it was enacted last year.
It has also affected pubs, who are apparently closing down at alarming rates, as well as working mans clubs. Freedom to Choose essentially wants to end the ban on smoking in public areas, it argues that all large pubs have reported substantial losses and both sales and profits have been decreased. We already know that this is true of bingo clubs.
Freedom to Choose also argues that millions of smokers have also had their social lives affected by the ban and in many instances ruined. The group has been holding meetings with MP’s, representatives from Working Mans Clubs and publicians to discuss the effect that the smoking ban has had on the various businesses, including bingo and communities who have been affected by it.
A spokesperson from Freedom to Choose says that while the Government is crooning over the success of the smoking ban, profit and sales figures are telling a completely different story.
