Lucky Gala Bingo win for unsuspecting Chap

62 year old Roy stokes not only won a trip to America, but a massive £30,000 jackpot prize when accompanying his wife Linda to the Gala Bingo championships in Gibraltar – so this was an unexpected big bingo win to say the least.

59 year old Linda Stokes won her place in the Gala Bingo championship finals after securing her seat in the regional rounds earlier this month. So it was thanks to Linda that Roy was at the event at all and now the lucky couple are sitting very pretty indeed after bagging the top prize.

Unlike Linda who is regular weekly player at Gala Bingo, Roy only ever players bingo two or three times a year. Before retiring Roy used to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland and here is what the lucky chap had to say about his experience in Gibraltar and his huge bingo win.

“It was 15 minutes that was just unbelievable. When I won the top prize I didn’t have the chance to react to anything. Before I knew where I was, I was on the stage with a cheque. We were both in a daze for the next couple of days and we haven’t come down to reality yet.”

First of all Roy won a very nice £10,000 jackpot prize by winning the first play-off game, which got him into the final round. Before taking part in the final Gala Bingo championship game, Roy offered to let wife Linda play it, as she is the bingo player of the pair, but Linda refused – claiming he was obviously the lucky player on the day and how right she was because he went on to win the big jackpot prize.

Linda and Roy were among 154 players who were invited by Gala Bingo to play in the finals held in Gibraltar. This fab competition was held at 142 of their land based clubs throughout the UK during the past 6 months. Around 60,000 Gala Bingo members originally entered the comp and this was whittled down to just 154, after they won their regional games.
