New Rock Bingo Club to open in Cork Ireland

Bingo has been on a bit of a downward spiral for bingo clubs over the past few years, with quite a few of them closing their doors forever, as opposed to new clubs opening.

So it was good to hear that Rock Bingo are set to open a brand new bingo club in Cork, Ireland with the creation of 30 new jobs.

Rock Bingo in Cork is set to be a 1,000 seated venue and it is due to open at the old glass premises in Togher.  This we are sure will be welcomed news for local people in the area because when the water glass facility closed down last March, along with it went 16 jobs – in its peak the water works was said to have employed around 65 people, so it does show just how times must have changed.

Ireland along with many countries have been facing tough economic times, so any new jobs becoming available has got to be great news and it looks like bingo is bouncing back.

Rock Bingo will be a family fun bingo business, by James Barber, his brother and two sons. Speaking to (the journal.ie) Mr Barber said the he had been “diligently looking for a new business” to help replace the jobs lost when the water works shut down. He also went onto say “In a recession you have to look for different types of opportunities and this venture will not only create jobs for the locality, provide funds to worthy causes but it also provides a new, fun and exciting entertainment centre for Cork people.”

Are bingo clubs about to make a revival as a cost effective night out? Well things certainly do seem to be on the up for them compared to this time a couple of years ago. We are starting to hear of more new bingo clubs opening, rather than closing down.

Times are hard, but people still like to have a night out and bingo clubs do provide a safe environment for an evening’s entertainment, which does cost less than lots of other activities and where there is also the possibility of walking out richer than you walked in.

Rock Bingo are currently recruiting and there is a number of position still to be filled.
