Bingo Raises Funds for the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust

English bingo players in Cyprus host a weekly game of bingo for the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust. This is hosted on a Monday night in the Soho Lounge in Karakum, and now it has become and even more special occasion with the donation of a bingo machine to the UK bingo playing community in Cyprus. This is not exactly online bingo, but they are sticking to this very British tradition as there are many UK ex-patriots living in Cyprus. And for that matter many UK online bingo operators with licenses in Cyprus.

The generosity of Mike and Trigg Alician, who are the proprietors of the Soho Lounge have made this all possible and bingo caller for the Trust, Rod Lloyd, brought the electronic bingo machine back in his luggage from a recent trip to the UK.

Forty five bingo avid players saw the bingo machine handed over, before settling down to some serious bingo playing in the British tradition, followed by an excellent buffet provided by the Soho Lounge. The end result of the evening was that a further  700 TL was able to be donated to the Cancer Trust and although this is the end of the season for the Trust they have done some fine work and will be able to purchase a Simulator for the Nicosia Hospital Oncology Ward.

There was one sour note for the evening, as Cyprus remains a smokers paradise, on British anti-smoking supporter, was disgusted by the fact that there were ashtrays and smokers at every table and he left the bingo session in complete disgust. Apparently going to Cyprus is like going to hell for non-smokers. Another notch in the charity belt for UK bingo players abroad, well done guys and gals.
