It comes with great sadness having to report about another forthcoming land based bingo club closure and this time it is the Gala Bingo Hall in Preston which will be closing its doors for the last time next year.
The Gala Bingo club is set to close on 4th February 2012 and this is the second club which has closed down in the city during past few years. Buckingham Bingo in Preston shut in 2009 and it now looks like Gala will be following suit.

Retail expert Mary Portas has stated that one way to get our high streets thriving again is for land based bingo clubs to make a comeback after lots of them closed down due to the smoking ban and some other significant factors.
More bingo clubs is just one idea which Mary thinks will help our ailing high streets that seem to be becoming more and more depressing by the day. A worrying statistic is over 25,000 shops have closed down since the millennium and things are just not getting any better, in fact you could say they are getting worse by the day.

It has been reported today in the Bolton News that 58 year old Barbara Taylor has stolen thousands of pounds from her elderly neighbour in order to fund her bingo addiction, which was really sad to hear.
The offenses include over £20,000 worth of cash and two counts of fraud. Barbara has reported pleaded guilty to three offenses which took place between June 2009 and February this year, but only to the sum of £11,670.
