Embattled Mecca Bingo (Rank) News
December 24, 2007 · Tagged: Mecca Bingo
It seems that because Mecca Bingo has been having such a rough time of it lately, people have been waiting with baited breath to see just exactly what was going to come out of their latest trading report. And while the news is not good, it is also not necessarily so bad either.
As a result of a combination of the share price drop and losses in revenue due to what appears to be the smoking ban, the tax hike, and the fact that the Mecca Bingo clubs have experienced forced removal of about 950 highly lucrative slot machines, Mecca Bingo will be concentrating in the future on stabilising.
The Group have seen that it will have to grow admissions to their Mecca Bingo clubs and will not be planning any major refurbishments to bingo clubs that they normally might have done in a normal years trading. They believe that they have taken sensible measures to see that the group stays out of trouble and will play it by ear during the next 6 – 9 trading months whereby hopefully they will see better revenue outcomes for the measures already taken. The best thing they can do now is see how things in 2008 will pan out.
