Final Winner, Gala Bingo Caller of the Year Competition

Well it is finally official, the Gala bingo Caller of the Year competition has been and gone and there is a winner. Not my favorite by a long chalk, but then I had nefarious desires for the only female in the competition to win. It is sad really that the National Bongo Competition has been cancelled, so I suppose that as far as bingo calling goes, we are going to have to make do with the Gala Competition. The finals for this bingo calling competition took place on Sunday 29th June 2008. Aaaaand the winner is Michael Edwards!!
After the callers entered the Gala Bingo club in Birmingham, to great applause from their own particular club fans the tension must really have grown, finalists were:
* Tracey Clair-Stockland Green (My particular favorite)
* Roger Hartley-Sheffield
* Michael Edwards-Stratford
* Andrew Moore-Woking
* Chris Lamb-Nottingham
* Paul G-Clements-Plymouth
* Brett Stainer-Fenton
* Paul Currie-Clydebank
After a cabaret the heat was on for the bingo callers all taking it in turns to be interviewed by the compere, they all held their own, event the competitors who were entering he competition for the very first time, when interviewed by Patrick Bowler, the first winner of the National Bingo Calling competition. Finally the callers get to do what they do best and that is call bingo numbers. The standard is really high as they call numbers in a real bingo game, and judges total up the marks for the winner…….Michael Edwards wins, he is a defending champion and it is a real pity that he cannot go on to the National Bingo Championship , because her really deserves to have a go at winning the big one. Ah.. well done Michael, better luck next year when the Nationals are back on again.
