Gala Bingo Plan Move From Colchester Bingo Hall

Plans for a revamp of the Colchester Central Business District, have had Gala Bingo resisting their appeals to move from their present site in Osborne Street. The town centre rejuvenation has plans for the land that Gala Bingo currently occupies, they wish to set this land aside for a House of Fraser store and have been involved in negotiations with Gala Bingo for more than a year, but the club has been tight lipped about whether they were prepared to move or not.
The plan is for Vineyard Gate Developers to take a run down area of Colchester and transform it into a new and more attractive shopping centre. Gala bingo, understandably has been reluctant to move from its present location, they currently have over 20 000 registered members who play regularly and it is a profitable location that has a large car park next door. Building works would obviously create a disruption to the profitability of Gala bingo’s ongoing trade.
Apparently though, Gala Bingo has accepted to a degree that there is a need to move and have identified a possible site that would be acceptable although negotiations are still in the very early stages.
Colchester is 90 miles to the north east of London and is one of Britain’s oldest towns, dating back to the Roman occupation.
