Great-grandmother Wins Afternoon Delight Bingo
A pensioner playing bingo at the Mecca Bingo Club, London Road, Bedford was so shaky when she realized how much money she had won that a man at the club asked her if she wanted him to take her home.
The woman from Sandy won in the National Bingo Afternoon Delight game, with a jackpot of ₤14,080 together with the regional prize of ₤1,027 and a house prize of ₤33 when she called full house after forty-four numbers. I have long maintained that forty-four calls is a lucky number.
The Great-grandmother has been playing bingo for many years and has never caught a big one before and she is still finding it hard to believe that she actually has. She has been a member at the same Mecca Bingo club for nine years and plays about twice a week, sometimes less. The mother of five is widowed and has four Grand- children and one Great-grandchild.
The pensioner is planning to use the money to take a holiday with a friend and help her son who has recently moved into a flat of his own. She also wants to have some new flooring put down in her house.
