Local Bingo Players Stop Casino Development

Buckingham Bingo’s plans to develop a new casino have been halted by residents. The bingo club raised objections primarily because it is situated next to both a residential area and a secondary school and although there a was huge outcry against the original development of the casino, planning permission was granted to them.

A local MP was of the opinion that Buckingham Bingo should never have been granted planning permission in the first place because of the massive objection to its development; however this was all finally decided when after a four day hearing by Manchester City Licensing, their application for a license was turned down. The licensing authority determined that Manchester already had more than enough casino’s and that in that part of Manchester there was no need for additional casino facilities.

The fact that it would be so close to the school also lent additional weight to the cause of the locals. The bingo hall has received increased pressure from local residents and has also shortened the number of hours that it play bingo. It has become increasingly obvious that residents have no demand for a casino in their area. I recon that people are probably far happier indulging in their online bingo anyway.
