Mecca Bingo Campaigns to “Save” Bingo
February 29, 2008 · Tagged: Mecca Bingo
The game of bingo has a long and very colourful history, now millions of people worldwide love and play bingo, but it is feared that the industry in the UK is under threat due to ever increasing legislation being brought about by the government, the major point that is hoping to be redressed is the unfair taxation laws, as bingo is the only gaming activity that is subject to double taxation.
To this end Mecca Bingo is asking everyone to get involved and help in the mammoth task of collecting signatures for the petition, they are currently setting up on the 10 Downing Street website. They need to collect signatures and once the petition has more than 200 signatures the Prime Minister is obliged to read it. If the Mecca Bingo petition reaches 21,000 signatures, and this should be an easy task considering all the bingo players and bingo lovers in the UK, the petition will be right up at the top of the list together with all the most popular petitions.
The aim of the Mecca Bingo petition is to show the Prime Minister that there are many people in the UK who want to preserve bingo and how important it is to them. It is also designed to show him that the bingo industry plays and important role in employing people.
