Final Winner, Gala Bingo Caller of the Year Competition

Well it is finally official, the Gala bingo Caller of the Year competition has been and gone and there is a winner. Not my favorite by a long chalk, but then I had nefarious desires for the only female in the competition to win. It is sad really that the National Bongo Competition has been cancelled, so I suppose that as far as bingo calling goes, we are going to have to make do with the Gala Competition. The finals for this bingo calling competition took place on Sunday 29th June 2008. Aaaaand the winner is Michael Edwards!!

Plymouth Cleaner Calls Bingo

A thirty eight year old cleaner is the latest big winner in the National Bingo game; she made a clean sweep of it when she picked up ₤69 000 at the Charles Cross Gala Bingo Club on Sunday. The woman is going to be sharing her winnings with her daughter with whom she plays bingo.

Another Bingo Hall Closure Leaves Residents Bereft

It is with great sadness that I write about another bingo hall closure in the UK, this time in Birmingham. Seventeen jobs will be lost with the closure of the Gala Bingo Club in Great Barr, Birmingham when it finally closes its doors to players on the 23^rd June 2008, although Gala Coral is going to try to relocate staff to nearby clubs. But this doesn’t always work out.

National Bingo Win for Veteran Player

I think it is great when someone has been playing bingo and never won much, although two months ago, she did win ₤1,000, and this is the case for a factory worker from Nottingham. She has been playing bingo for thirty years, now that is what I call dedication.
