The First Mecca Bingo Millionaire

The new laws that became effective on September 1st allow for the rolling over of stake money which allows for million pound pots at the local bingo halls. The first bingo millionaire was made in Glasgow Scotland at the Mecca Bingo club.

A forty-two year old mother of two won the million pound jackpot at a lunchtime session. The women had lost her job at a local biscuit factory three weeks ago so the bingo win was a nice surprise for her. Margaret Shearer has been playing bingo for more than thirty years and attended the lunchtime session at the Glasgow Forge branch with her mother Margaret Money who has been described as her constant bingo partner.

It was thought that the new rules would result in a bingo millionaire every forty-five days, but Margaret won the big prize on the twenty-first day. The winner had her good luck piece with her, a small Buddha figure that she always carries in her purse. The big winner says she doesn’t know what she will do with the money as of yet but she intends to keep on playing bingo.

The National Bingo Game also had a ₤25,000 winner. Julie Anne of Ward End was one of the several players to share in the national jackpot. She has already used some of the money to buy a new car as the more liberal gaming laws are allowing for more and bigger winners.
