Update on Bingo Hall Slot Machines

After having waited more than 50 days for a response from the Government regarding the placement of more slot machines in Bingo halls, and the announcement to the British Bingo Association that something would be done about this, apparently we are going to be hearing something on Wednesday. I personally am not going to be holding my breath, as the wheels of Government seem to be turning even more slowly than usual in terms of the plight of the UK Bingo industry, and I really don’t want to turn blue in the face waiting.

That being said however, it seems as though something might happen to relax the limits of ₤500 jackpot slots machines in bingo halls. This does not apply to the online bingo industry, only, land based games. The limit for these machines is presently set at four per club (this is really quite ridiculous), and an industry source says that it was expected the Government will make a proposal for bingo clubs to choose from one of three options to allow these money spinning machines. Heaven knows they need this!

It is believed that the amount of machines they will be allowed will be relative to the size of the bingo club, and when you think about it in this regard, this does make sense. It has also been punted that they will announce that the maximum limit on these machines is to be more than likely fourteen or possibly even fifteen machines.

New gambling and smoking laws as well as unfair taxation on bingo are said to be the three major contributing factors to the decline of the UK land based bingo industry. This does not affect the online bingo industry as when I last checked the English-mans’ home is still his castle and he is allowed to puff away all he pleases, play as much bingo as he likes and whatever slots he wants.
