Weight Loss for Bingo Fundraising

Every Saturday afternoon, Keri Prowse weighs in, she is on a weight loss programme to raise funds for the Whizz Kids charity. Well you might be wondering, what this has to do with bingo, and you are right to wonder. But Keri has to step on the scales in from of a whole host of customers and colleagues at the Mecca Bingo club in Exeter where she is employed in the food and beverage department.
Twenty year old Keri is taking part in a slimming regime, where she is sponsored and the funds from the sponsorship go to charity. So once a week, instead of calling the bingo numbers, the bingo caller announces to all and sundry, just how much weight Keri has lost.
She says that it is very nerve wracking to be weighed in front of so many people and the first time she had to do this in front of all the bingo club staff and customers, she thought she was going to die, fortunately she didn’t! Keri also said that no one wants to go through the embarrassment of not losing anything for a week, so this is incentive enough for her to lose the weight. She is taking part in the sponsored slim together with two colleagues from the same bingo club and has already lost one stone and eight pounds. She is now a size fourteen where previously she wore a size sixteen or eighteen.
When Keri was first weighed she actually got a shock as she didn’t know quite how much she weighed. Her father and boyfriend are sponsoring her as well as many of the customers at the bingo club. I say well done Keri, you are really brave, I certainly don’t know if I would be able to do something as public as that, not even for charity.
